Dwarfina takes her final bow this Friday on GMA Telebabad

It has truly been an exhilarating journey for Dwarfina (Heart Evangelista), shuttling to and fro the real world and the duwende kingdom, while struggling to find her place in both. And now that it’s about to end, viewers must not miss what important steps and life-changing decisions the tiny heroine is about to make.

In the finale this Friday, Dwarfina (Heart Evangelista) makes it to Mt. Kamurayaw, and realizes how great of a responsibility lies in her small hands. As the appointed leader of the Duwende Kingdom, it is now up to Dwarfina to save the mound and what remains of her mother’s legacy.

Upon her arrival, Romera confronts Yna and challenges her to a duel. Will Dwarfina successfully assert her power, and put an end to this evil villain? Or will she suffer the same fate in the hands of the person who killed Abiana (Jackielou Blanco)?

Meanwhile, Lyndon (Dennis Trillo) prepares for his own battle in an effort to rescue his ladylove. Gwendina (Pauleen Luna) unexpectedly joins his group and turns against her mother Romera. Did Gwendina really have a change of heart, or is it just a ploy to manipulate the dwarfs?

If and when Dwarfina and Lyndon both survive, will they choose to remain in the Duwende World, not to mention their current state? Will they get their happy ending in the end?

The final adventure of Dwarfina airs this Friday right after Captain Barbell on GMA Telebabad.

GMA-7 improves weekday primetime performance, based on AGB Nielsen data

GMA Network, Inc. maintains its foothold in national ratings amid aggressive competition from other broadcast networks, based on figures from the most widely accepted ratings service provider, Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

Based on household data surveyed in National Urban Philippines from April 1 to April 30 (with  24 to 30 based on overnight readings), GMA-7 garnered 33.2 household audience share points, higher than ABS-CBN's 31.3 and TV5's 14.8.

The Kapuso Network also dominated the list of overall top 30 programs in National Urban Philippines with 20 entries, topped by the Philippine TV premiere of Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes' movie You To Me Are Everything, which scored a household rating of 34.0 points.

In Urban Luzon, which comprises 77 percent of total television households nationwide, GMA-7's lead over competing networks remained at double digit levels. The Kapuso Network sustained its strong ratings performance in the said area with 36.8 share points, 10.4 points ahead of ABS-CBN's 26.4; and 20.6 points ahead of TV5's 16.2.

In viewer-rich Mega Manila, which covers 58 percent of total television households nationwide, GMA-7 garnered 37.6 share points, 12.8 points up from ABS-CBN's 24.8; and 20.5 points higher than TV5's 17.1.

Nielsen figures also show that among the three networks, GMA-7 was the only channel in Mega Manila that made a leap in weekday primetime (6:30 to 11pm) this April relative to March. GMA-7's audience shares climbed by 2.8 points from 34.1 in March to 36.9 share points in April. Meanwhile, ABS-CBN's audience shares dropped by 2.0 points from 33.5 in March to 31.5 in April; and TV5's audience shares fell by 3.4 points from 20.9 in March to 17.5 in April.

GMA-7 President and Chief Operating Officer Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr. said that GMA-7 continues to lead in the ratings, despite the efforts of competition. "We are extremely grateful to the growing number of viewers who subscribe to GMA-7 programs making us number 1 nationwide. We will continue our efforts towards ensuring the delivery of unbiased and relevant news and public affairs programs from our News and Public Affairs Group as well as innovative programs from our Entertainment TV Group," Duavit said.

This month, GMA-7 will be launching seven new network-produced programs, two Koreanovelas, public affairs specials and will be airing the year's most anticipated boxing match.

The line-up includes the Koreanovela Secret Garden, Munting Heredera, Blusang Itim, Andres de Saya, Sisid, My Chubby World, Playful Kiss, the Pacquiao-Mosley fight, Ground Zero, Sabadabadog, Blessed: John Paul II and the grand premiere of GMA-7's biggest television production to date, Amaya on May 30.

On the other hand, ABS-CBN is the only local network reportedly subscribing to Kantar Media, formerly known as TNS.

In Mega Manila alone, the Nielsen TV Audience Measurement has a sample size of 880 homes as compared to Kantar Media's 770 homes. Nationwide, Nielsen has a total sample size of 2,005 homes compared to the lower sample size of 1,370 utilized by Kantar Media.

'Willing Willie' suspended

MANILA, Philippines — “Willing Willie,” the controversial primetime game show of ABC TV5, was suspended for one month by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), it was nnounced Tuesday.
However, the program may resume regular programming on May 9 as the suspension includes the program’s “voluntary suspension” that started last April 9.
“It’s up to them kung kailan sila mag-re-resume on air. Hindi natin alam ‘yan. Walang pumipigil sa kanila. Puwede na sa May 9, 2011,’’ Atty. Jonathan S. Presquito, MTRCB legal counsel, said.
Pesquito also said that the TV5 network lost some P300 million following the suspension of the game show. “The daily earning is about P10 million. Ang alam ko P7 million para sa network and the rest kay Willie. Malaki na ang nawawala sa kanila.’’
Officials of ABC TV5 said that they will make an official announcement on the airing of “Willing Willie” soon.
The suspension stemmed from the allegations of child abuse during the show’s March 12 segment.
In a 14-page decision issued yesterday, MTRCB Chairman Mary Grace Poe Llamanzares said the game show, hosted by Willie Revillame, will also be placed on probation or on a per-episode permit basis.
The Hearing and Adjudication Committee of MTRCB said that it found the show liable for violating Section 3 (c) of PD 1986.
The same decision counselled celebrities and TV personalities of their role in the industry, stating that they “should exercise the highest degree of care and diligence as they are most seen, and their reach and influence is far greater than any individual.”
The MTRCB also said that it is the responsibility of the network and their talents to educate themselves on gender sensitivity, children and women’s rights issues, the rights of indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and other marginalized sectors of the society.
“Let this decision stand as a reminder to all networks, producers, directors, public figures, celebrities, and hosts that: we are all advocates. And as advocates, we are duty-bound to fight for a TV industry that does not only make us ‘eat for a day,’ but an industry that inspires, transforms, and moves us, to live better lives,’’ the decision said.
The suspension came just when the show was preparing for its comeback on May 7, following a 26-day leave from the TV5 network. It went on hiatus last April 11.
“Juicy Express,” the entertainment program of TV5 reported last April 29 that the program will return under a new format.
Reports had earlier said that the top-rating primetime show might comeback on a different timeslot. “Willing Willie’’ aired from 6:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. On Saturdays, the show aired from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Revillame’s show was criticized after a boy contestant engaged in a macho dance routine last March 12. Among the groups that criticized the segment were the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), the Catholic Bishops
Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Other personalities also criticized the show.
